Mastan YMCA easily defeated Ghatkopar YMCA 81-54 (half-time 37-32) in a men’s Pool-A league match of the Nagpada Basketball Association organised 18th NBA Invitational Basketball Tournament, played at the floodlit Late Bachoo Khan basketball courts, Nagpada on Monday evening.
Earlier, the tournament was inaugurated by Smt. Kishori Pednekar, Mayor of Mumbai in the presence of Varun Sardesai, Secretary, Yuva Sena, Yashwant Jadhav, Standing Committee Chairman, BMC, and other prominent dignitaries and NBA Executive Committee members.
Sardesai addressing the gathering said, “This NBA club is 60 years old and they have helped to promote the sports in the area. Unfortunately, they have not been able to develop the infrastructure.”
“Maharashtra Cabinet Minister of Tourism and Environment, Aditya Thackeray, who is President of the Mumbai Football Association, has provided top quality football ground at the Andheri Sports Complex where the Indian and Mumbai football teams play and international tournaments organised. He has also constructed four top class grounds at Kharghar. I assure that with his guidance we will develop infrastructure for basketball in the city and Maharashtra,” promised Sardesai.
Later, in a women’s league match, Agrednaya Vyamshal defeated Ghatkopar YMCA 43-6 after leading 29-2 at the end of the second quarter.
Khal Hoops scored a narrow 47-36 win against Hi-5 in an exciting junior boys under-18 match. Khal Hoops enjoyed a slender 23-22 lead at the break.

Women: Argednaya Vyamshala beat Ghatkopar YMCA 43-6 (half-time 29-2).
Boys’ under-18: Khal Hoops beat Hi-5 47-36 (half-time 23-22).
