Tailender Ayaz Khan batted with aplomb to ratlle up an unbeaten 61 (7×4, 1×6) as MCC (Black), after a disastrous start, defeated defending champions MCC (Red) by three wickets in the 40-overs MCC Pro-Under-14 Talent Search cricket league tie, co-hosted by Jwala Sports Foundation at Oval Maidan here today. This was “Black” s second win in the league.
Opting to bat after winning the toss, the former champions after a sedate start, saw their middle order failing to capitalize and were bowled out 150 in 31.5 overs. But ‘Red” hit back as they had top ‘Black’ batsmen back in the hut for 46 runs before tailender Ayaz and Sahil Jadhav rallied to inch closer to their target. It was a misunderstanding between the two that resulted in Sahil getting run out. However, Ayaz took his team past the target without any further loss.
In the other tie played on adjacent plot, Sanjeevani CA kept in the hunt for the top honours with an another impressive win, beating Real CA by 3 wickets with Sourish Despande playing a pivotal role, both with bat and ball.
