Parsee Gymkhana having dominated the opening day with the bat maintained their stronghold as their bowlers took charge on the second day and bundled out Payyade Sports Club for a paltry 171 runs in 49 overs in the first inning of the three-day final of the Automotive Manufacturing-74th Police Invitation Shield Cricket Tournament 2021-2022, organised under the auspices of MCA, at the Police Gymkhana ground, Marine Drive on Saturday.
The red hot Parsee Gymkhana who have recently won the Talim Shield and Madhav Mantri Centenary One-Day League titles, have taken a healthy 353 runs first innings lead and are virtually assured of becoming champions and winning their third title.
Medium pacers Siddharth Raut (4 for 47), Shivam Malhotra (2 for 17) and off-spinner Sagar Udeshi 3 for 53) combined effectively and shared the spoils. Payyade’s lower order bastmen Atif Attarwala (38 runs), Pradeep Sahu (31 runs) and Akash Parkar (26 runs) were the only three batters who managed to stay a bit longer at the crease to try and score runs.
