Mumbai Suburbs meet Thane in semis


Men’s and Women’s State Championships and Selection Test Kho-Kho Competition Report

 

With the approval of Maharashtra Kho-Kho Association and Solapur Amyachur Kho Kho Association, the 57th Men’s Women’s State Championship and Selection Test Kho-Kho competition is being held at Palkhi Maidan in Velapur (Tal. Malshiras), Solapur. In men’s team event , Mumbai Suburbs will play Thane and Sangli will play Pune, while in women’s team  it will be Pune vs. Osmanabad & Ratnagiri Vs. Thane contest in the semi-finals.Kho Kho Match in progress

 

Osmanabad beat Satara 13-8 in the women’s group at Velapur Palkhi Maidan. Osmanabad’s Vaibhavi Gaikwad picked up 5 wickets in his sharp attack. Ashwini Shinde (4:00, 1:30 min defense), Namrata Gade (2:30 min defense) and Kiran Shinde (2:00 min defense) played well. Mayuri Jadhav of Satara defended for one minute while Sanchita Bodre picked up two wickets.Kho Kho 2nd day

 

In the second match, Pune defeated Solapur 10-7. Pune’s Priyanka Ingle (3:20 mins defense and 4 points) played an all-round game. Priya Bhor defended unbeaten three min. while Komal Darwatkar defended for 3.10 min. Preeti Kale (1.40 min defense) and Sandhya Survase (1.20 min 1.40 min defense) of Solapur failed and they had to face a big blow.

 

In the other match, Reshma Rathod’s (3.10 min defense and 2 points) all-round performance helped Thane district beat Mumbai Suburbs 10-8. Ratnagiri defeated Sanglis 15-12. The 10-6 lead at the interval gave them the victory. The all-rounder Apeksha Sutar (2.50, 1.50 min defense and 4 points) and Aarti Kamble (1.30, 1.30 min defense and 4 points) were the architects of his victory.

 

In the men’s category, Arun Gunki’s (1.30, 2.00 min defense and 4 points) all-round performance helped Sangli to beat host Solapur 18-16. From Solapur, Ramji Kashyap, Rahul Sawant, Akshay Ingle and Vineet Dinkar picked up 3 wickets each. In the second match, Pune beat Osmanabad 17-11. Pune’s Milind Karpe took five wickets, Rahul Mandal defended for 2.20 min. and Abhishek Khendekar defended for 2.00 minutes.

 

In the other matches, Thane beat Mumbai 18-17 keeping 3.40 minutes spare. Thane’s Laxman Gavas and Shubham Uttekar each picked up three wickets & defended for two minutes. Harshad Hatankar’s (1.00, 1.20 min defense and 3 points) all-round performance helped Mumbai Suburbs beat Ahmednagar 15-13 keeping 7.30 minutes spare. Ahmednagar’s Akash Dhole (1.40 minutes and 3 points) performed well.
