Former Maharashtra footballer Rajesh Bangera suffered a cardiac arrest and breathed his last on way to a local hospital at his native place Belman, Mangalore on Thursday evening. Bangera, 36, is survived by his parents, wife and son, according a media release from the Karnatak SA.
Bangera, who was a reliable goalkeeper, represented Maharashtra State Under-19 and Under-21 teams and played for leading Mumbai clubs, including Mahindra United Under-19, Mumbai Customs, Bank of India and Karnatak SA in the domestic tournaments. He also played for Mangalore Blues and Jai Bharat SC in the KSA League and knockout tournaments.
He was assistant coach with Kenkre FC and also conducted a coaching academy at Kurla.
