Arya, Sachin shine in Karnatak SA win


Leg-spinner Arya Pol produced a devastating spell picking up 6 wickets for 57 runs which helped Karnatak Sporting Association record a 29-run victory against National Cricket Club in a Group-D match of Lord Northbrook CC orgainsed 1st LNCC Omni Global Trophy Invitation Under-19 (45 overs) Cricket Tournament 2021, conducted under the auspices of the Mumbai Cricket Association and played at the National Cricket Club ground, Cross Maidan.

Earlier, a 125-run third wicket partnership between middle-order batsmen Sachin Rao 76 runs and Vinay Kunwar 63 runs powered Karnatak SA to a massive total of 278 for the eight wickets from their quota of 45 overs. Openers Shubham Chhag (54 runs) and Shaun Rodrigues (34 runs) put together a 73-run stand for the first wicket which laid the foundation for KSA big innings. National CC bowler Gaurav Kumar finished with impressive figures of 5 for 53 runs.

 

Chasing a stiff target for victory National CC batsmen put up a dogged display but were foxed by the brilliance of Arya teasing delivers and lost wickets at crucial juncture before they collapsed for 249 runs and finished on the losing side. Gaurav kumar 56 runs, Aditya Pawar 43 runs and Tanay Khandeshi 36 runs tried their best to lead National CC’s fight back, but with not much support from the other batters the fell short of their victory target.

 

Brief scores – Group-D: Karnatak Sporting Association 278 for 8 wickets, 45 overs (Shubham Chhag 54, Shaun Rodrigues 34, Sachin Rao 76, Vinay Kunwar 63; Gaurav Kumar 5 for 53) beat National Cricket Club 249 all out, 43.4 overs (Gaurav kumar 56, Aditya Pawar 43, Tanay Khandeshi 36; Arya Pol 6 for 57). Result: Karnatak SA won by 29 runs.
