Manan, Palash inspire Northbrook to victory


Strong batting performances from Manan Bhatt and Palash Pawar enabled Lord Northbrook Cricket Club register a 5-wicket victory against Bombay Gymkhana in a Group-C match of Lord Northbrook CC orgainsed 1st LNCC Omni Global Trophy Invitation Under-19 (45 overs) Cricket Tournament 2021, conducted under the auspices of the Mumbai Cricket Association and played at the Bombay Gymkhana ground, Azad Maidan.

Both Manan and Palash batted confidently and cracked unbeaten knocks of 86 runs and 79 runs respectively to help Lord Northbrook overhaul Bombay Gymkhana’s mammoth total reaching 283 for the loss of 5 wickets from 43 overs. Aditya Pabalkar 39 runs and Karan Suraiya 60 runs were the other two Lord Northbrook batsmen who made useful contributions which sealed their win.

Earlier, Bombay Gymkhana after electing to bat first put up a challenging total of 282 for 5 wickets from 45 overs. Harsh Mogaveera led Bombay Gymkhana’s charge recording a century 104 runs, while Anshul Murli chipped in with 74 runs to build the innings. Both their efforts went in vain.

In a Group-A clash New Hind Sports Club defeated Payyade Sports Club by six wickets.

New Hind deciding to field first did well to dismiss Payyade SC to a paltry 130 runs in 36.2 overs. Atharva Bhosale 4 for 25 and Abhinav Singh 3 for 4 were the bowlers responsible to demolish the rival batting. In reply New Hind SC comfortably reached the winning target scoring 134 runs for 4 wickets in 32.4 overs. Sahil Jadhav 57 runs and Aayush Zimare 43 runs steered New Hind to victory.

Brief scores – Group-A: Payyade Sports Club 130 all out, 36.2 overs (Atharva Bhosale 4 for 25, Abhinav Singh 3 for 4) lost to New Hind Sports Club 134 for 4 wickets, 32.4 overs (Sahil Jadhav 57, Aayush Zimare 43). Result: New Hind SC won by 6 wickets.

Group-B: John Bright Cricket Club 201 for 9 wickets, 45 overs (Saahil Gode 73; Shaunak Menon 3 for 27) beat Omni Global Sports Management 139 all out, 41.5 overs (Harshal Jadhav 44). Result: John Bright CC won by 62 runs.

Group-C: Bombay Gymkhana 282 for 5 wickets, 45 overs (Anshul Murli 74, Harsh Mogaveera 104) lost to Lord Northbrook Cricket Club 283 for 3 wickets, in 43 overs (Aditya Pabalkar 39, Karan Suraiya 60, Manan Bhatt 86*, Palash Pawar 79*). Result: Lord Northbrook CC won by 5 wickets.
