Cool and Composed Deepit Patil wins State Jr. Boys TT title


Navi Mumbai’s Deepit Patil, who represents Thane District, won the Jr. Boys Singles crown today evening at the Dr. Ramesh Prabhoo Memorial 82nd Maharashtra State Table Tennis Championship organized by The Suburban District Table Tennis Association( TSTTA), Mumbai. Displaying his cool and composed attitude this lanky 17 year old 12th Std student of Fr. Agnel Multipurpose School , Vashi, Navi Mumbai won his final match against Aadil Anand ( TSTTA, Mumbai) 4-2, with the game scores 11-13, 11-4, 11-7,12-10, 9-11, 11-3.

Earlier in the quarter finals Deepit scored a fluent 4-0 win over Neil Mulye from Pune, who had yesterday won the Sub Jr. Boys’ title. But, he had to battle it hard in the semis,  against TSTTA’s Jash Modi. This   exciting match stretched to seven games. Deepit led 3-0 but the Mumbai lad leveled  the set scores at 3-3 . However, in the decider Deepit  remained undeterred and continued attacking on both the flanks of his opponent, to win the game and match 4-3. Deepit is coached by Chaitanya Udare & Suhas Chavan.

In the other semi final Aadil Anand ( TSTTA) beat Hrishikesh Malhotra also from TSTTA, Mumbai 4-2, before entering finals. A lot was expected from him in the finals, but he failed to make a comeback in the 6th game, which was so crucial for him.

 

Champion Deepit Patil who spoke to magzmumbai after his match, said that he was confident while playing all his matches today and was never worried at any moment. When asked as to how he prepared himself during the lockdown period, he said that he attended online classes and worked more on shadow practice and exercises to strengthen his muscles.
