Rahul Shaikh terrific bowling efforts of 5 for 28 runs helped Young Maharashtra Cricket Club record a convincing 56-run win against John Bright Cricket Club in a quarter-final round match of the Kale Cup T20 cricket tournament for ‘C’ & ‘D’ Division clubs, at the Matunga Gymkhana on Thursday.
Young Maharashtra sent in to bat first amassed a massive total of 216 for 7 wickets in 20 overs. Kushal Valsangkar cracked 54 runs from 30 balls with five boundries and two sixes and Tanmay Kadam scored a 25-ball 45 runs with eight hits to the ropes. John Bright’s Rahul Kesari claimed 3 wickets for 23 runs.
John Bright struggled in the chase and despite the solid knocks from all-rounder Rahul Kesari 64 runs (36 balls, 7×4, 3×6) and Harshal Bari 56 runs (25 balls, 4×4, 4×6) they fell short of the target as they dismissed for 160 all out in 17 overs. Rahul Shaikh finished with impressive figures of 5 for 28 runs and Ayush Raghuvanshi picked up 2 for 29 runs to secure Young Maharashtra’s win.
Rahul Shaikh was declared ‘Man of the match’.
