MDFA football (Elite Div):
A nine-man Income Tax did well to hold Central Bank of India to a 1-1 draw in an Elite Division match of the Rustomjee-MDFA League 2019-2020 and played at the Cooperage ground Income Tax midfielder Tejas Raut picked up his second yellow card in the 71st minute and referee Alok Yadav showed him the red card. A couple of minutes later Sebastian Raj was also booked for the second offence and referee Yadav sent him to the dressing.
Income Tax playing with nine men defended well in the remaining period and denied Central Bank from scoring the winner.
Earlier, Troy D’Souza scored from a direct free-kick in the 13th minute to Central Bank the lead. But, Income Tax fought back and in the third minute of the second half Sebastian Raj headed home the equalizer following a corner kick.
Earlier, at the Neville D’Souza ground, Kenkre FC put up a strong fight back to overcome a spirited Sellebrity FC by a narrow 3-2 margin in another Elite Division match.
Sellebrity scored once in each half through Mrudul Parab (25th minute) and Ricky Rajkumar (50th minute) to take a 2-0 lead. But, Kenkre immediately hit back with Yash Mhatre (51st and 52nd minute) scoring two quick goals to level the scores before Ashrafali Mukandar scored the decisive winner in the 83rd minute.
Results – Elite Div: Kenkre FC 3 (Yash Mhatre 2, Ashrafali Mukandar) beat Sellebrity FC 2 (Mrudul Parab, Ricky Rajkumar).
