Khar Gymkhana’s Palak Joshi in girls under-17 and Kabir Khubchandani in boys-8 set new records in their respective 100m backstroke and 50m free style events respectively on the opening day of the Bombay YMCA Annual Inter-Club Swim gala, held at YMCA Swimming Pool at Agripada, here today.
Palak clocked 1:08.50 secs to better Kenisha Gupta’s timing of 1:10.15 secs set in 2017. While Kabir’s timing of 00:34.84 secs eclipsed Yudhisthir Jaising’s 00:35,.48 secs established way back in 2003.
The results of the record- breaking were:
BOYS (U-8): 50m Freestyle: 1. Kabir Khubchandani (Khar Gym) – 00:34.84 secs. – Old record –00:35.46 (2003), 2. Abir Seth (GSC); 3. Dhairya Bhuta (Mtunga Gym).
GIRLS (U-14): 100m Backstroke: 1. Palak Joshi (Khar Gym) – 01:08.50 secs – Old record – 01:10.15 secs (2017); 2. Pushya Sahajwani (Forest Club); 3. Zara Baksi (Otters Club).
Winners in the other events were: MEN: 200m Individual medley: Advait Deshpande (Ozone Pool) – 05:02.70 secs.WOMEN: 200m Individual medley: Jispa Doshi (Otters)- 02:521.09 secs.

Backstroke: Ronak Sawant (GAF) – 01:09. 53 secs. U-12: 100m
Backstroke: Shwet Poojary (Forest Club) – 01:20.08 secs. U-10: 50m
Freestyle: Fateh Singh Chahal (GSC)- 00:32.25 secs.
