Dhirubhai Ambani clinch11-run win


 

Dhirubhai Ambani International School produced a steady and confident all-round performance and recorded a narrow 11-run victory against St. Mary’s School in a Group-A league match of the inaugural Bombay Gymkhana Inter-School T20 Cricket Tournament, played at the Gymkhana’s ground on Thursday.

 

Sent in to bat first, Dhirubhai Ambani’s batters dominated the St. Mary’s bowling attack and amassed a score of 135 for the loss of just one wicket from their stipulated 20 overs. Taher Kudrati made a responsible 47 runs and Abhiviraj Goel scored an unbeaten 59 to runs to lift the Dhirubhai innings.

 

In reply, St. Mary’s School were unable to score runs freely and were restricted to 124 runs for the loos of eight wickets from 20 overs and they fell 11 runs short of the winning target. Hussain Daruwala kept St. Mary’s in the chase with a steady unbeaten 46 runs knock. The Dhirubhai bowlers Veer Kapoor (2 for 29) and Harshwardhan Jhaveri (3 for 12) were mainly responsible for the win.
