MDFA football (Elite Div):
HDFC Bank struck two goals on either side of the break and romped to a fluent 4-0 win against Maharashtra State Police in an Elite Division match of the Rustomjee-MDFA League 2019-2020 and played at the Cooperage ground on Sunday.
Showing better understanding and coordination HDFC Bank were in complete control from the start, but had to wait till the 19th minute to open the account with striker Ramesh Singh scoring the first goal.
Twelve minutes later, Titus Uttankar netted the second goal to double HDFC Bank’s lead and take a commanding 2-0 advantage into the breather.
On resumption, HDFC Bank maintained the momentum and struck two more goals through Antya Dalvi in the 64th minute and Prashant Rane in the 85th minute to round-off the winning margin.
Earlier, Bank of Baroda (Dena Bank) scored at the death to snatch a tight 3-2 win against Central Bank of India in an evenly contested Elite Div encounter.
The hero of Bank of Baroda’s success was striker Denzil Mascarenhas who notched up a brace of goals and Rakshit Pillay with one. For Central Bank of India striker Troy D’Souza scored both the goals.
