Determined Mumbai Customs strike late winner against Air India


 

A determined Mumbai Customs struck a decisive winner at the death to snatch a fighting 2-1 win against Air India in a keenly contested Elite Division match of the Rustomjee-MDFA League 2019-2020 and played at the Cooperage ground.

 

All three goals came in the second session with Marc D’Souza and Pramod Gavale scoring for the winners while Sanchit netted the lone goal for the losing side.

 

After the first half failed to produce a goal, defending champions Mumbai Customs broke the deadlock when Marc hit the target in the 52nd minute.

 

However, five minutes later Customs defender fouled in the area and referee Rajesh Kanojia awarded Air India a penalty which was converted by Sanchit to level the scores.

 

Just as the match seemed to be heading for a draw striker Pramod scored from a snap effort in the second minute of additional period to ensure Customs reaffirmed their status as the champions.

 

In another match, Millat FC were held to a 2-2 draw by Kenkre FC at the Neville D’Souza ground.

 

Results –

Elite Div: Millat FC 2 (Brijal Possa, Waman Sawant) drew with Kenkre FC 2 (Siddharth Colaco, Yash Mhatre).

 

Mumbai Customs 2 (Marc D’Souza, Pramod Galave) beat Air India 1 (Sanchit Singh).
