Pacer Dias picks 6 for 54 to put Parkophene in strong position


 

Medium pacer Royston Dias produced a strong bowling performance to put Parkophene Cricketers in a commanding position against MCA Colts on the first day of their two-day semi-final match of the Eagle Thane Strikers sponsored 72nd Police Invitation Shield Cricket Tournament 2019, and played at the Police Gymkhana ground, Marine Drive on Saturday.

 

MCA youngsters deciding to bat first were rocked by the fiery pace from Dias who picked up 6 for 54 runs and helped Parkophene Cricketers dismiss the opponents for 144 in 29.5 overs. Aatif Shaikh was the only MCA Colts batsman who managed to score 31 runs.

 

In the second semi-final, Payyade Sports Club batted steadily to score 219 for 8 wickets in 56 overs against hosts MIG Cricket Club. For Payyade Akhil Herwadkar (64 runs), Hersh Tank (39 runs) and  Hardik Tamore (32 runs) propped the innings. Shreyas Gurav (3 for 19) and Ankush Jaiswal (3 for 78) were the successful MIG Cricket Club bowlers.
