Rahul Baitha and Sanika Choudhari, both from Maharashtra have been given the pride of place in the men’s and women’s events respectively in the 76th CCI Western Indian Squash Open 2019, which commences at the CCI squash courts from Saturday, December 7, 2019. Some initial round matches would also be played at the Bombay Gymkhana courts.
The CCI Western India squash tournament has been successfully conducted continuously for the past 75 years and is one of the most prestigious and popular squash event in the Indian squash calendar.
Gaurav Nandrajog of Delhi is seeded second while the joint 3/4 seeds are Tamil Nadu’s Vikas Mehra and Services’ Jamal Sakib in the men’s competition.
In the women’s draw, Maharashtra’s Sachika Balvani is the second seed, while Chandigarh’s Priya Gupta and Maharashtra’s Aishwarya Khubchandani are the joint 3/4 seeds.
Defending champion, Yash Fadte of Goa and Advait Adik of Maharashtra are the number one and two seeds respectively in the boy’s under-19 event. In the girls’ under-19 category, Maharashtra’s Yoshna Singh is seeded one and the second seed is Rathika Suthanthira Seelan of Tamil Nadu.
