Ex-India opener Wasim Jaffer inaugurated a newly opened MCC Cricket Academy at Thane. It was followed by Sri Lankan legendary spinner Rangana Herath opening the lighting facility. Expressing his appreciation of efforts of the MCC, particularly its Director JwalaSingh, Hearth said that such kind of facilities will help youngsters train throughout the year under the watchful eyes a host of internationals like Wasim Jaffer, Chaminda Vaas and himself along with Jwala Singh.
The Academy, having five indoor and two out door nets with lighting facilities, will have video analyses and bowling machine facilities all the time. And this will run 356 days in year. MCC together with Jwala Sports Foundation has been at the forefront in promoting cricket from grass root level for many years in Mumbai and now this will be first indoor cricket academy in Thane which will benefit local boys in and around Thane. The Academy hope to provide residential facilities to youngsters players and to look after their education at later stage.
