Poinsur Gymkhana’s Inter School Football
St Francis D’Assiss as well as St. Lawrence (Borivali) made to wait for tie-breaker by their respective opponents before they made the under-16 semi finals of the Poinsur Gymkhana’s 7th Inter-school football tournament, under their annual Uttar Mumbai Kreeda Mahotsav held at Poinsur Gymkhana ground here today.
St. Francis forwards tried hard, but could not pierce the tight defence of Kandivali’s St. Lawrence as they ended goalless in the regulation time. However, in the tie-breaker, St. Francis pipped them 4-3 for a place in the last four. So too, Borivali’s St. Lawrence, who were held goalless by Yashodham (Goregon) at full time. But they just above prevailed 6-5 in the tie-breaker.
However, action the under-14 did provide some thrills with Gundecha school from Kandivali routing Malad’s St. Joseph 5-0 with goals coming from Nirvaan Saude (2), Arayan Negi (2) and Mikhail Saude. While in another in under-14 tie, a goal in the very first minute by Vedant Jadhav and another by Arnon Mehreshani in the 20th minute saw St. Lawrence scoring 2-0 win over Rustomjee Cambridge.
