The 13th South Asian Championship is taking place from December 1 to 10 at Kathmandu-Pokhara, Nepal. Kho-Kho matches in this competition are scheduled to begin in Kathmandu from 1-4 December. India had won a gold medal in the 2015-16 South Asian Championships.
The Indian team led by Balasaheb Pokarde thrashed Sri Lanka 21-08 by 13 points in the men’s match at Kathmandu today. In this match, Akshay Ganpule of India made three minutes ten seconds defence, Sudarshan made two minutes defense and Tapan Paul defended for two minutes twenty seconds & took one wicket, Skipper Balasaheb Pocarde defended for two minutes; Sagar Poddar defended for two minutes and took three wickets and Satyajit Singh scored 5 wickets in the attack, Abhinandan Patil and Shreyas Raul each contributed 3-3 wickets and contributed to the victory. while the defeated Sri Lankans Chandrasiri and Thigaramlal gave some fighting. Reacting to these generalities, Balasaheb Pocarde said, “This is a good start for us. Expect a good game against Bangladesh tomorrow. We look forward to winning the championship once again,”
In Playing under Nasrin (captain) in the women’s match, India defeated Sri Lanka by 28 points (32-4). India’s Mukesh defended for five minutes. Apeksha Sutar to retired after three minutes and twenty seconds and she took two wickets, Sasmita Sharma defended for two minutes thirty seconds, Pournima Sakpal defended for four minutes and twenty seconds & she took four wickets. However, the Sri Lankan players could not show a special shine.
Reacting to the victory, Indian kho-kho officials congratulated India’s goal of winning for the second consecutive gold medal at the South Asian Games.
In the men’s second match, Nepal thrashed Bangladesh by 21 points in a 21-19 win over Bangladesh. In the women’s second match, Nepal defeated Bangladesh by 11 points with a score of 11-09
