Hosbett and Shetty dash to 100m gold


Kartik Hosbett and Saroj Shetty, both of Sprinters Sports Club emerged as the fastest men and women athletes respectively by winning 100 metres sprints of the 44th Bombay YMCA State-Level Annual Athletic Meet 2019, organized under the auspices of the MCDAAA by the Bombay YMCA Physical Education Department, will be conducted at the University Pavilion, Marine Lines.

 

Hosbett quickly took of the blocks and clocked a time of 11.03 secs to finish first and grab the gold. Paresh Warang of Maharashtra State Police claimed the silver (11.27secs) and Shashank Gawas of Infinity SC took the bronze (11.30secs).

 

In the women’s short sprint, Shetty ran a powerful race to clinch the gold in a time of 12.61secs. Nameira Shaikh of Gupta SA finished second (13.07secs) followed by Michelle Fernandes of Holy Cross SC (13.23secs) in third place.

 

However, Fernandes had a great race in the 100 metres hurdles which she dominated from start to finish. She comfortably cleared the hurdles to cross the first line first in a time of

 

15.72secs. Srauly Soj of Holy Cross SC was a distant second (16.84secs) and Shloka Sajesh of Jaihind College (16.89secs) grabbed the bronze.

100 m hurdles: 1. Shravani Mali (VPM Sports Club) – 15.71secs, 2. Ishika Ingle (Holy Cross SC) – 16.39secs, 3. Crystal Vadakel (Holy Cross SC) – 16.58secs.

 

Boys’ under-16 – 100 m: 1. Ridav Jana (Sprinters SC) – 11.26secs, 2, Harsh Thakur (Goenka & Associates) – 11.89secs,   3. Shreyas Malusare (Uran Gymkhana) – 11.92secs.

 

100 m hurdles: 1. Manav Gawas (Goenka & Associates) –16.12secs, 2. Parth Chogale (Winner SC) – 16.34secs, 3. Dyneshwar Pawar (Malegaon Taluka) – 16.37secs.

 

Women’s – 100 m: 1. Saroj Shetty (Sprinters SC) – 12.61secs, 2. Nameira Shaikh (Gupta SA) – 13.07secs, 3. Michelle Fernandes (Holy Cross SC) – 13.23secs.
