Sanika Nate of Achievers Sports Club sprinted to gold in the girls under-18 100 metres run of the 44th Bombay YMCA State-Level Annual Athletic Meet 2019, organized under the auspices of the MCDAAA by the Bombay YMCA Physical Education Department, will be conducted at the University Pavilion, Marine Lines.
In a close race, Sanika staved off a strong spirited challenge from teammate Aditi Parab as she crossed the finish line in a time of 12.41 seconds. Parab was a close second clocking a time of 12.43 seconds, while Chaarvi Poojari of Seven Star SA was third in 13.01 seconds.
Earlier, in the girls’ under-18 1500 metres race, Sampada Khamkar of Ameya Classic SC took the gold with a timing 5:43.03 secs. Rishika Shetty of VPM Sports Club took the silver in 5:44.75 secs followed by Sakshi Jadhav of R.B. Speedsters in third place at 5:50.65 secs.
Sanjana Sawant of Track & Field Masters clinched the girls’ under-16 800 metres gold clocking a time of 2:32.13 secs. The silver went to Ria Gupte of Goenka & Associates who finished in 2:37.07 secs and Diwya Mokal of Sports Authority of India settled for the bronze with a time of 2:41.28 secs.
