Nitin Kirtane bags double crown again


 

Former India international Nitin Kirtane proved once again that he is still fighting fit, as he emerges winner in both  the men’s singles and doubles finals in the  Khar Gymkhana- Maharashtra State Open Senior State Tennis tournament at their courts here today. Nitin toyed with Pravin Jadhav before he trumphed 6-1, 6-3 in the plus 45 singles. And later, Nitin partnered Karan Singh to put paid to the aspirations of Bhushan Akut and Gaurav Kapadia with a straight games (6-2, 6-3) win in the plus 45 doubles final.

The  men’s 35 plus top seed Narndra Singh,  won the singles final, beating Kabir Satyani 6-2, 6-1, but Kabir Satyani had his revenge  as he and Yusoof  Imran gave Narendra and Gajanand an equally solid thrashing, winning the final 6-2,6-1.

 

Former ace badminton international  Bhushan Akut, who too was in line for a doubles double, had to be satisfied with men’s doubles plus 55 title only. Akut paired with Manoj Chandiramani to overpower Sanjay Kumar and Clfton D’Souza 7-6 (5-0), 6-0. After winning the first set over tie-breaker, Akut  and Manoj ran away with the second set without dropping a game.
