WCG football report:
Defending champions St. Gonsalo Garcia, Vasai scraped past Sacred Heart, Vashi by a fighting 3-2 margin in a hard-fought Men’s third round match of the Willingdon Catholic Gymkhana, 32nd Inter-Parish Football Tournament, played under floodlights at the Willingdon Catholic Gymkhana (WCG) grounds.
A determined St. Gonsalo Garcia scored their goals through Rakshit Pillai, Boniface Mathew and Divanshu Poojara to come out victors while Sacred Heart managed to score two goals through Axel Peters and Joshua Dias.
Earlier, in Women’s Open second round contest, Joga Invincible showed their might as they stormed past FC Reloaded coasting to a comfortable 4-0 victory. Combining well as a unit Joga Invincible scored through the efforts of Delfiya Pereira, Neha Ture, Nikita Rathod and Shianzi Tamang, all contributing with a goal each to complete the winning tally.
In the second Men’s encounter, St. Blaise ‘B’, Amboli got the better of Our Lady of Egypt ‘A’, Kalina by a 4-2 score line. For the Amboli outfit striker Jayesh Sutar netted a brace of goals and Harold Fernandes and Joel Fernandes chipped in with one each. Rayyan Shaikh struck both the goals for at Our Lady of Egypt.
Results – Women (2nd round): Joga Invincible 4 (Delfiya Pereira, Neha Ture, Nikita Rathod, Shianzi Tamang) beat FC Reloaded 0.
Men’s (3rd round): St. Gonsalo Garcia, Vasai 3 (Rakshit Pillai, Boniface Mathew, Divanshu Poojara) beat Sacred Heart, Vashi 2 (Axel Peters, Joshua Dias).
St. Blaise ‘B’, Amboli 4 (Jayesh Sutar 2, Harold Fernandes, Joel Fernandes) beat Our Lady of Egypt ‘A’, Kalina 2 (Rayyan Shaikh 2).
