WCG football report:
Striker Nobert Fernandes showed good opportunism scoring a hat-trick to power Holy Cross ‘B’, Juhu to a fighting 3-2 win against Good Shepherd, Andheri in a Men’s Open second round match of the Willingdon Catholic Gymkhana, 32nd Inter-Parish Football Tournament, played under floodlights at the Willingdon Catholic Gymkhana (WCG) grounds. Karan Sethi and struck a goal each as Good Shepherd put up quite a good fight.
Earlier, Valencia D’Mello played a key winning role by scoring the lone goal which enabled Immaculate Conception, Borivali get the better of Future Stars SC, Mazagon by a slender 1-0 margin to advance to the quarter-finals.
In another exciting and well-contested Men’s encounter, St. Joseph’s ‘B’, Juhu put it across Our Lady of Health ‘A’, Sahar by a tight 3-2 score line. For St. Joseph’s the goal came through the efforts of Lester Creado, Nickel D’Souza and Manoj Updhayay, all netting a goal each, while Our Lady of Health scored through Sylveston Pereira and Oliver Castellino.
Results – Ladies Open (2nd round): Immaculate Conception, Borivali 1 (Valencia D’Mello) beat Future Stars SC 0.
