A 16-year-old boy Vedpraskash Jaiswal, made a name in the ‘D’ division of the Dr D.H.Kanga League while playing for New Hindu C.C. against Jolly Cricketers at Islam Gdymkhana ground.
Jolly Cricketers, batting first, were shot out for 118 with with Suraj Singh (3/31) and Bharat Solanki (4/22) sharing the spoils. New Hindu, in reply hit up 202 for one with Vedprakash hitting an aggressive unbeaten 102 with 11 fours and four sixes, in just 59 balls.. He was well backed by Pratik Patil, who played a good supporting role with 87. Going for the second knock, Jolly Cricketers managed to hold on to finish with 102 for four before time ran out.
Vedprakash is in Mumbai under-19 team, having been in good form for the last couple of years. He has notched up four double centuries in four matches in the schools cricket. He has been coached by Jwala Singh, who has been a pioneer in training boys at the grassroot level.
