Penalty corner specialist Sanjit Toppo scored two goals, one in the final minute, to steer defending champions Indian Navy to a narrow 2-1 win against Central Railway in a Super Division match of the MHAL League 2019-2020, played at the MHAL Stadium, Churchgate, on Wednesday.
Navy took the lead when Toppo converted a short corner in the 35th minute, but 10 minutes later Central found the equalizer through Vinit Kamble’s field effort. The sailors struck once again with Toppo scoring from another penalty corner at the death to help Navy cruise to their fourth win in five matches. Navy who are unbeaten stay atop with 13 points, while Central, who suffered their second defeat, have five points from the same number of matches.
Earlier, Mumbai Customs suffered their first defeat going down 1-2 to Income Tax who recorded their first win after two losses and one draw. Customs with 11 points from six games stay in second position.
Faiz Mohd and Arjun Sahani were on target for Income Tax, while Mumbai Customs pulled one back through Dharambir Yadav.
