Aashit Pandya of Dombivali Gymkhana got the better of Pune’s Chintamani Jadhav by a fighting 3-2 frame scores in a closely contested Senior men’s snooker third round qualifying match of the BSAM organized Maharashtra State Junior Snooker and Senior Snooker & Billiards Selection (leg 1) Championship – 2019, played at the Bombay Gymkhana billiards room on Thursday.
Both Pandya and Jadhav were tentative in their approach from the start and shared the first two frames which were decided by narrow point difference. They latter potted well and split the next two frame as well before Pandya struck form to win the decider and secure a 56-43, 55-77, 79-11, 16-63 and 62-16 victory.
In second round contests, Bombay Gymkhana’s Abhishek Bajaj prevailed over Bapu Gaikwad (BPGC) 3-0 (65-38, 71-29 and 69-20) and Pune’s Rohan Sakalkar defeated Thane challenger Swaroop Pillai 3-1 (65-18, 65-38, 48-62, 58-42).
