Karnatak Sporting Association (KSA) suffered an early setback, but they showed solid gumption and determination as they recovered to defeat Iron Born CFCI 2-1 in a Group-A league match of the MDFA Nadkarni Cup football tournament 2019 and played at the Cooperage ground on Monday.
The young Iron Born outfit grabbed the initiative when Aman Manghi converted a penalty in the very fifth minute.
But, the Karnatak outif came roaring back and found the equalizer through Pawan Mali’s strike in the 27th minute. In the second session Karnatak SA continued to press hard for another goal and they managed to succeed when their reliable striker Roger Sam hit the target in the 62nd minute to take the lead and emerge winners.
Earlier, Union Bank of India recorded another fluent win defeating Companeroes Sports Club 2-0 in a Group-D encounter. Sherwyn Chang netted the opening goal in the 25th minute before Padeep Mannewar added the second in the 75th minute to secure their second win in the group.
