Dhruv Sitwala smoothly sails into quarter-finals


 

Left-hander Dhruv Sitwala also of ONGC did not take time to find his rhythm and also had a good run of the balls as he overcame the challenge from Maharashtra’s Vishal Gehani winning in three well-contested frames 3-0 (69-42, 55-30 and 71-27) to move into quarter finals of the MIG Cricket Club organized third Master’s National Snooker Championship – 2019. Earlier in the day, Defending champion Alok Kumar of ONGC and Gujarat’s Geet Sethi both enjoyed smooth sailing to cruise into the quarter-final round The event is being organised under the aegis of BSFI and BSAM.

The Punjab-based Kumar was all charged up and constructed three solid breaks of 45 in the first frame, 87 in the second and 50 in the third as he went on to outclass Maharashtra Prabdeep Singh (MH) by quickly wrapping up a 3-0 (79-33, 109-06 and 78-15) win in a pre-quarter-final match.

 

Geet  Sethi was also  in good nick as he played steadily and potted consistently to outshine Tami Nadu’s S.A. Saleem by coasting to a quick 3-0 win in a round of 16 encounter, at the MIG Club billiards hall on Tuesday. The cue sports legend Sethi quickly settled down and easily won the opening frame. Saleem managed to put a bit of a fight in the next two frames, but that could not stop the maestro from cantering to a 61-06, 65-35 and 71-65 success and a place in the last eight.

 

In the last eight, Sethi will clash with Karnataka’s D. Rajkumar who easily defeated West Bengal Dhruv Agarwal (WB) 3-0 (53-48, 62-34 and 58-40).

Anuj Uppal of Delhi constructed a massive break of 86 points to quash the strong fight from Uttar Pradesh’s Kankan Shamsi by racing to a 3-1 victory in another pre-quarter-final match. Uppal won a close first frame before Shamsi bounced back and narrowly won the second to level frae scores. The Delhi cueist comfortably pocketed the third to regain the lead and then signed off in style with the huge effort to complete a 66-61, 51-61, 78-21 and 86-05 victory.

 

Meanwhile, Sarang Shroff defeated Raajeev Sharma 3-1 in a contested between Maharashtra players. Shroff prevailed at 81-01, 69-49, 31-65 and 66-45.
