Customs make winning start


 

Elite Division champions Mumbai Customs had things much their own way and stormed to an easy 3-0 win against Sellebrity SC in a first round match of the Rustomjee-MDFA Independence Day Cup 2019 football tournament played at the St. Xavier’s ground, Parel on Wednesday.

 

Striker Marc D’Souza netted a brace of goals while Shrikant Veramulla added one to complete Customs victory.

 

Earlier, Bank of Baroda riding on goals from Denzil Mascarenhas and Anup Singh blanked Mumbai City FC 2-0.

 

In a well-contested encounter, Western Railway got the better of Kenkre FC by a fighting 2-1 margin. Merwin Stephen and Avinesh Dabodiya were on target for Western while Kenkre FC scored through Silvester Serrao.

Mumbai Customs 3 (Marc D’Souza 2, Shrikant Veramulla) beat Sellebrity SC 0.

 

Bank of Baroda 2 (Denzil Mascarenhas, Anup Singh) beat Mumbai City FC 0.

 

Western Railway 2 (Merwin Stephen, Avinesh Dabodiya) beat Kenkre FC 1 (Silvester Serrao).

 

Millat FC 4 (Rushikesh Koli, Prakash Bisht, Merrick Fernandes, Dylan Monteiro) beat Sea View 3 (Kaustubh Sardal 2, Tejas Pethe).
