Indian teams set to test football skills at Homeless World Cup 19


 

The Indian men and women football teams are set to test their skills as they will be participating in the Homeless World Cup 2019, to be held at Cardiff, Wales from July 27 to August 3, 2019.

The 17th edition of the Homeless World Cup will be played at Cardiff’s iconic Bute Park, right in the heart of the Welsh capital.

 

Since 2007, a team from Slum Soccer has represented India in all subsequent editions in Melbourne, Milan, Rio de Janeiro, Paris, Poland, Chile, Amsterdam, Glasgow, Oslo and Mexico. The Indians have also improved their final ranking to a creditable 21st (Men) and 9th (Women) in 2018.

 

The Homeless World Cup is an annual football tournament organized by the Homeless World Cup Foundation, a social organization which advocates the end of homelessness through the sport of association football.

They have been working on improving their mentally and physically aspects so that they can perform their best on the pitch. “The teams are working tirelessly on the pitch and getting ready to show the world that they belong to underprivileged sector of India but they are certain to aim high,” says Homkant Surandase, Head Coach of the India teams.
