Union Bank of India and Mumbai Customs recorded contrasting wins to advance into the Men’s Open semi-finals of the Mount Carmel Open Invitation Floodlit Rink Hockey Tournament – 2019, organised by the Carmel Sports Committee at the Mount Carmel Church compound on Tuesday night.
In semi-final encounters, Union Bank stormed to a fluent 4-1 win against Companeroes SC. For Union Bank Suraj Shahi scored a brace of goals while Vinit Shetty and Vinay Walmiki netted one each. Companeroes scored the lone goal through Oristen D’Souza.
Mumbai Customs encountered a strong challenge from Sea View SC before managing to snatch a close 4-3 win. Consistent scorer Jayesh Jadhav scored two goals while Alden D’Souza and Moses Pulanthara netted one each for Customs. For Sea View who put up a fighting display, Kunal Bhandari struck two goals and Julius Fernandes got one.

U.K. United 6 (Devinder Walmiki 5, Rajat Sharma) beat Ave Maria 4 (Vikram Singh 2, Samir Coutinho, Girish Pimpale).
