Last year’s champion Viplav Kuvale and runner-up Nigel D’Sa are the top two seeds in the men’s singles event of the Greater Mumbai District Badminton Championship 2019, organized by the Greater Mumbai Badminton Association and to be hosted by the Cricket Club of India, which is set to commence at the CCI badminton courts from Monday, June 3.
Yash Tiwari and Jaidev Menon are the thord and fourth seeds in the men’s draw.
In the women’s singles competition, Kareena Madan is the number one seed and Samiaa Shah is seeded second.
All the leading player from Mumbai District will be seen competing for the top honours in this five-day tournament.
Besides the men and women’s singles events, competition will also be conducted for Boys’ and Girls’ singles in the U-11, U-13, U-15, U-17 and U-19 age categories. There would also be doubles events in the Men’s, Women’s, Mixed (men & women), Boys’ and Girls’ U-17 and U-19.
All matches upto the last 16 round (pre-quarter-finals) will be played over best-of-three games of 15 points each with no extension in all events. All matches from the last eight (quarter-finals) shall be played over best-of-three games of 21 points each.
