After a suffering a couple of setbacks and a few close games which did not go their way. Mumbai Che Raje came back strongly to defeat Chennai Challengers 32-28 in their final match of the Group B of the Indo International Premiere Kabaddi league played at Mysore on Saturday. Mumbai Che Raje moved up to the 2 place with 6 points in 6 matches
Mumbai Che Raje came with a clear attacking strategy including 2 new raiders in the side. The first quarter saw a fierce fight between both teams as they went head to head picking up points at regular intervals to level the scores at 7-7 at the end of the first quarter.
The second half saw Chennai Challengers attacking Mumbai Che Raje’s defence to race to a 14-9 lead. The Raider duo of Mahesh M and Manveera Kantha did well to score back to back points to reduce the gap at but Chennai ended the 2nd quarter on top leading the game 15-12. Chennai Challengers defence remained rock solid in the 3rd quarter neutralizing any threat the Mumbai Che Raje raiders posed extending their lead to 4 points at 22-19 going into the final quarter.
Chennai got the perfect start to the final quarter scoring 2 back to back super tackles to race to a 26-20 lead. The defence provided some hope as Mumbai Che Raje took on the Chennai raiders inflicting an all-out and levelling the scores at 26-26. Sensing a chance of victory after trailing for the most part of the match, Mumbai Che Raje raiders Manveera and Mahesh went on a rampage scoring 6 back to back points to race to 32 points. Chennai Challengers could not recover from the late onslaught and succumb to a 28-32 defeat.
