Fifth seed Krishan Hooda of Haryana showed tremendous resilience and solid fighting qualities as he fought back to hand compatriot and second seed Chirag Duhan a 2-6, 6-4, 6-1 defeat in a boys singles semi-final match of the CCI 13th Ramesh Desai Memorial All India Nationals Under-16 Tennis Tournament 2019, organized by the Cricket Club of India and played at the CCI tennis courts on Friday.
In the second semi-final, Punjab’s fourth seed Dhruv Tangri got the better of Haryana’s ninth seed Karan Singh winning in two tough sets at 6-4, 7-5 to book a place in the final.
In contrast the girls’ semi-final contests turned out to be tame one-sided affairs as top seed Sanjana Sirimalla of Telanga sent Haryana’s eighth seed Pari Singh crashing to 6-1, 6-1 defeat. In the second semi-finals, Haryana’s seventh seed Renne Singla tamed Naisha Srivastav of Karnataka by charging to a quick 6-1, 6-3 victory.
Meanwhile, the fourth seeded combination of Renne Singla from Haryana and Vaishnavi Adkar of Maharashtra defeated the top-seeded Maharashtra pair of Rutuja Chaphalkar and Hrudaya Shah 3-6, 6-3, 11-9 to clinch the girls doubles crown.
In the boys’ doubles final, Karnataka’s Nikhil Niranjan and Madhya Pradesh’s Denim Yadav combined effectively to tame the Haryana duo of Ajay Singh and Krishan Hooda by coasting to 6-3, 6-4 victory to emerge champions.
