Powered by Anthony Machado’s fine hat-trick Kalina Rangers stormed to a facile 7-0 win against Soccer Learners Club in a quarter-final match of the Kalina Open football tournament, organized by the Kaka Baptista Sports Foundation and played at the Joseph (Kaka) Baptista Ground, Kalina on Sunday. The tournament is being supported by local corporator Brian Miranda.
Besides Machado’s brilliant efforts the others who contributed towards Rangers win was Tyson Pereira, Melvin Barboza, Danston Rodrigues and Arun Patil, all netting a goal each to round-off the winning margin.
Indian Airlines Colony striker Alok Chouhan also notched up a hat-trick in leading his team to a 4-1 win against Yogi Ashram SC in another last eight match. Madan Takalaikar netted the fourth goal while Yogi Ashram pulled one back through Mithil Solanki.
Air India Colony Boys scored an identical 4-1 win against Kalina Village Boys in another match. Pramod Pandey, Akshay Pashikar, Kishan Singh and Astle Pereira were bang on target with a goal each for Air India Colony Boys while Charleston Vaz scored the lone goal for Kalina Village Boys.
In the fourth quarter-final tie, Kalina United riding on Keegan Pinto and Alistair D’Souza’s strikes got the better of FC Kolovery 2-0.
