Matunga Gymkhana’s seasoned pro Nalin Patel and Ankit Thakkar continued with their impressive winning run of form and once again they won both their frames in the home and away ties as MG ‘Night Kings’ shared honours with Park Club’s PCL ‘Beach Boys’ in a Section-C league match during the second week of the CCI Kekoo Nicholson BSAM Billiards League 2019.
MG Night Kings lost at home 523-558, but with captain Devendra Joshi replacing Shailesh Rao for the away match they combined strongly to hand Beach Boys a 495-415 defeat and as a result, both teams pocketed two points each. Nalin and Ankit had also won both the frames in their home and away ties in their earlier match against PJ Hindu Gymkhana’s PJHG ‘Khotey Sikke’.
In another match of the same section, North India Association’s NIA ‘Chargers’ outshone PJ Hindu Gymkhana’s PJHG ‘Khotey Sikke’ by posting a 759-761 and 755-736 win in the two home and away matches.
Both Night Kings and Beach Boys have an identical, three wins and one loss, record and with both having picked up a bonus point each, they now have seven points in their kitty. NIA who had won both the ties against Hindu Gymkhana and with a bonus point now has five points to their credit.
Meanwhile, Chembur Gymkhana’s CG ‘Gladiators’ maintained their winning streak as they defeated Bombay Gymkhana’s BG ‘Phantoms’ 455-338 and 544-469. They had earlier overcome Catholic Gymkhana’s Catholic ‘Rebels’ also in convincingly fashion and by grabbing a bonus point in the two games, they are now sitting pretty with 10 points and are assured of a place in the knockout phase.
Catholic Gymkhana Rebels bounced back to winning form as they tamed PCL ‘Beach Boys Also’ 680-538 and 643-559 to collect four points and an additional bonus point to tally five points.
