Mumbai Police Gymkhana ‘B’ emerged champions defeating their senior team Mumbai Police Gymkhana ‘A’ side by an overwhelming 92 runs in the final of the Inter-Corporation Cricket Tournament, organsied by Sahara Foundation and played at the Police Gymkhana ground, Marine Drive.
After being put in to bat first, Mumbai Police ‘B’ outfit managed to amass a score of 171 runs for the loss of seven wickets from their 20 overs. In reply, Mumbai Police ‘A’ batsmen struggled against the bowling of Kailas Kolekar who picked up five wickets for 26 runs, and were dismissed for a paltry 79 runs in 15.2 overs to hand their junior team a comfortable victory.
Rohan Bhosle 30 runs and Yogesh Patil 27 runs were mainly responsible in lifting the Mumbai Police ‘B’ innings and providing them a fighting total to defend. Mumbai Police all-rounder Mayur Sanap took 2 wickets for 31 runs.
Besides Kolekar fine efforts he was ably supported by Siddharth Ghule who grabbed two wickets for 18 runs.
Brief scores: Mumbai Police Gymkhana ‘B’ 171 for 7 wickets in 20 overs (Rohan Bhosle 30, Yogesh Patil 27; Mayur Sanap 2/31) beat Mumbai Police Gymkhana ‘A’ 79 all out in 15.2 overs (Swapnil Kulaye 18; Kailas Kolekar 5/26, Sidharth Ghule 2/18). Result: Mumbai Police Gymkhana ‘B’ won by 92 runs.
