Bandra Heroes, led by Mumbai Ranji opener Jay Bista, handed defending champions Ghatkopar Jets an emphatic 68 runs defeat in the Mitsui Shoji T-20 League-Season-8 , played at Mumbai Police Gymkhana ground at Marine Lines here today. The feature of Heroes win was the fine performance- both with the bat and ball – by Shashikant Kadam, who scored 33 in his side’s score of 158 for six and then captured three wickets for 23 runs as the Jets were packed off for 90 runs.
Earlier in the morning the Police Cityriders inflicted Thane Marathas, a 25-run defeat. For the last year’s finalists, it was their second win on the trot , having beaten Bandra Heroes in their opening tie. While for the Thane outfit, it was their second loss in three outings. Batting first, the Cityriders hit up 200 for seven in the allotted 20 overs with opener Mayur Sanap, who added 88 runs with Rohit Pol (42) top-scored with 64. Chasing 201 for win, Thane Marathas ended with 175 for six with medium pacer Santosh Shinde (3/39) and Anirudh Mainkar (2/18) sharing the bowling honours.
