Riding on captain-cum-opener Sachin Wagh’s splendid unbeaten 66 runs from 31 balls, P.J. Hindu Gymkhana registered an easy eight-wicket win over Muslim Sports Club in the opening match of the 70th Nawab Salar Jung Invitation T20 Cricket Tournament 2019, organised by the Islam Gymkhana under the auspices of the Mumbai Cricket Association, and played at the P.J. Hindu Gymkhana on Friday.
Muslim SC batted first and managed to score 109 as they were bowled out in 20 overs. Mohd. Asif’s 30 runs and Imran Shaikh’s 25 runs were the only batsmen who managed to get some runs and prop the total. Hindu Gymkhana’s left-arm medium pacer Hassan Raza took three wickets for 24 in three overs, while Farhan Kazi chipped in with two wickets, giving away 16 runs in his four-over spell.
In reply, Hindu Gymkhana, though, lost two quick wickets of opener Ankit Revandhar and Sujit Haravi during the chase. But, Sachin put opponents bowling attack under pressure with his superb innings which included three sixes and nine fours. Megh Adhwaryu remained unbeaten on 29 off 18 balls as the hosts reached the target in 11.3 overs.
