Tamil Nadu’s Prithvi Sekhar fought like a tiger all the way before he subdued fifth seeded Jatin Dahiya from Delhi in a tough 3-setter to squeeze into men’s singles quarterfinals of the Khar Gymkhana- All India men’s Ranking 5-lakh prize money Tennis Tournament-2019, hosted by Khar Gymkhana at their courts here today. It was a match full of long rallies and power-packed strokes before the lad from Tamil Nadu trtiumphed at 6-4, 6-7 (3), 7-6 (1).
Punjab’s Chandril Sood fought tooth and nail before he overcame Paras Dahiya from Haryana ,in a furiously paced tie before the Punjab lefthander was through with a 6-7 (5), 6-0, 6-3. Earlier, Paras had knocked out second seeded Mayur Mohit in straight sets.
While qualifier Rishab Agarwal, who had knocked out top seed Niki Poonacha yesterday, outplayed Yugal Bansal 6-2,6-4 to join Rishasb in the last eight. However, there was no stopping fourth seeded Dalwinder Singh from Punjab, who got the better of Rajasthan’s Fasisal Qamar 7-5, 5-7, 6-1.
