Easy win for Mumbai Customs


 

Mumbai Customs struck good form to launch their campaign in the play-offs on a victorious note as they registered a convincing 3-1 win against Karnatak Sporting Association in their opening Elite Division play-off match of the Rustomjee-MDFA League 2018-2019 and played at the Neville D’Souza ground, Bandra on Saturday evening. Striker Dhawal Waghela scored two goals and Sajjad Allam netted one for Customs who led 2-0 at the break. Johnson D’Silva struck the lone goal for the Karnatak outfit.

 

Showing positive intent from the outset Customs asserted their dominance and took a 10th minute lead through Dhawal and seven minute later Sajjad netted the second goal to double their lead.

 

Customs continued to call the shots on resumption and Dhawal once again hit the target for the third goal in the 50th minute before Johnson scored the lone goal for the losers.

 

Results – Elite Div (play-off): Mumbai Customs 3 (Dhawal Waghela 10th, 50th, Sajjad Alam 17th) beat beat Karnatak SA 1 (Johnson D’Silva 63rd).
