R.A. Podar College opening bastman Bhupen Lalwani scored a century with 108 runs, but his efforts went in vain as they suffered a five-wicket defeat against Rizvi College in a quarter-final  match of the Mumbai University Inter-College Cricket Tournament and played at the National CC ground, Cross Maidan on Friday.

The dashing opener Bhupen fine 86-ball innings was studded with 12 sweetly-timed hits to the ropes and three powerful sixes. He received good support from Sanket Kashte 67 runs and Arya Satpute 33 but they could only muster to score 258 for the loss of five wickets from their quota of 45 overs.

 

Rizvi comfortably chased down the target as both the opening batsmen Srujan Athawale 91 runs and Rudra Dande 84 runs laid the foundation for their win with a soild 173-run partnership for the opening wicket. Later, Sidak Singh scored an unbeaten 40 runs to steer Rizvi to 259 for wickets in 49.4 overs and to an emphatic victory.
