Millat FC produced a strong combined performance and went on to record a convincing 3-1 win against Community Football Club of India SC in an Elite Division match of the Rustomjee-MDFA League 2018-2019 and played at the Neville D’Souza ground, Bandra on Saturday.
The Millat outfit showed good understanding and perfect teamwork and striker Aniket Shipe displayed excellent finishing touch as he converted from all the three opportunities that came his way to complete a fine hat-trick.
Shipe opened the scoring in the 42nd minute to give Millat a 1-0 half-time lead and then scored the second in the 75th minute before firing home the third goal in the third minute of additional period to round off the winning tally. Vaibhav K. scored CFCI’s lone goal in the 52nd minute.
Earlier, GM Sports Club played with plenty of grit and determination and got the better of Bombay Gymkhana by a fighting 2-1 margin in another Elite Division encounter.
In an evenly contested encounter, GM Sports Club broke the deadlock in the third minute of the second session when striker Sanath Valladares hit the target to put his team in front. Later, Sudhakar Ranjan doubled the lead when he struck the second goal in the 79th minute.
The Bombay Gymkhana outfit which put up a strong fight managed to reduce the deficit when Pratik Patil found the mark in the 88th minute.
Meanwhile, Rohit Bheke’s 47th minute strike helped Dena Bank overcome Union Bank of India by a narrow 1-0 margin.
