Bandra Gym football
Mount Mary SC and Kalina Rangers took different routes to a semi-final meeting in the Men’s Open event of the Bandra Gymkhana Annual Floodlit Rink Football Tournament 2019, organized under the auspices of the MDFA and played under floodlights at the DPRC grounds, Bandra.
A young energetic Mount Mary outfit displayed plenty of guts and gumption to put it across Boca Juniors by a tight 5-4 margin in a late night quarter-final match. Ryan D’Souza struck two goals while Rohel Shaikh, Azza Noorhani and Prashant Gaurav contributed with one apiece to seal Mount Mary’s win. Fot Boca Juniors Nigel D’Souza netted a brace of goals and one each from Mathew Roy and Lionel Caldeira.
Earlier, Kalina Rangers, dominated play throughout breezed to a fluent 4-0 win against Bombastic SC. Leading Rangers charge to victory was striker Rayyan Sheikh who slammed home two goals while Tyson Pereira and Troy D’Souza added one each to round-off the winning tally.
In the other two last eight encounters, Autonomous SC got the better of Catalans SC by a narrow 3-2 margin and SP-10 Sports Club defeated Versova Village Boys by a close 1-0 verdict.
