YMCA Callan Cup Volleyball
Badlapur Sports Club and Maharashtra State Police recorded contrasting semi-final victories to set up a clash in the summit round of the 64th Bombay Callan Cup Volleyball Tournament 2019, played at the YMCA Abdul Rehman playground, Jhulla Maidan, Agripada, Mumbai Central.
In the penultimate round of matches, Badlapur outfit staved off a strong challenge from Jhunjhunwalla College before managing to pull through winning in two well-contested sets at 25-22, 25-19, while the Policewomen proved too superior for A.R. Girls as they dicyayed terms throughout and marched to a straight sets 25-13, 25-11 win.
Earlier in quarter-final encounters, Badlapur SC were in complete control against hosts Bombay YMCA and smoothly cruised to a 25-12, 25-5 victory. A.R. Girls also enjoyed a relaxed time as they eased past Somaiya Sports Club winning at 25-14, 25-19.
Results – Women’s (semi-finals): Badlapur SC beat Jhunjhunwala College 2-0 (25-22, 25-19).
Maharashtra State Police beat A.R. Girls 2-0 (25-13, 25-11).
Quarter-finals: Badlapur SC beat Bombay YMCA 2-0 (25-12, 25-5.
