Union Bank of India( UBI) showed excellent understanding and coordination and capitalized on the chances to record an authoritative 3-1 win against a spirited Bank of India in an Elite Division match of the Rustomjee-MDFA League 2018-2019 and played at the Cooperage ground on Tuesday morning. Valentine Pereira, Shamer Swamy and Dwayne Vaz scored for Union Bank while Bank of India got the lone goal through Melroy Fernandes.
In a keenly contested encounter, hard-working medio Pereira scored Union Bank’s first goal in the first minute of additional period of the first half, before Swamy doubled the lead with a strike in the 73rd minute. Bank of India cut the deficit when Fernandes found the net in the 83rd minute, but Union Bank struck again at the death through Vaz in the second minute of stoppage time to seal their win and to collect all three points.
In another match, Salcette FC rode on Amit Kantha’s 70th minute goal to overcome Community Football Club of India 1-0.
