Yash Dalvi and Arya Ghag scored contrasting wins to emerge champions in the Junior boys and girls singles event of the GCH-Promotional Table Tennis Tournament organized under the auspices of the MCDTTA at the Garware Club House.
Winners of the different categories pose with their trophies and certificates along with the guests of honour Kaity Khodaiji, Farrokh Khodaiji and officials.
In the boys final Yash blew hot and cold before he managed to overcome Yuvraj Yadav 3-2 (11-9, 13-11, 5-11, 7-11 and 11-9), while Arya had things much her own way and breezed past Mrunal Kurade winning in straight games, 3-0 (11-6, 11-5 and 11-6).
Yash started with a flourish and won two close opening games and raced to a 2-0 lead. But, Yuvraj showed great fighting qualities and came back to win the next two to level scores and force the third game. The decider witnessed another close fight before Yash managed to hold his nerves to scrape through to clinch a hard-fought win.
