Siddhesh Thorat from Dr. Naravane Sports Academy and Selena Gomes from Rising Star Sports Club took top honours in their respective under-17 boys and girls events in the 24th IC Colony Open Minithon Road races, held around YMCA’s centre at IC Colony, Borivali (West) yesterday. The event attracted over 1300 athletes in various age groups from 28 schools, colleges and Academies from different parts of the city and suburbs.

Siddhesh clocked 16:54 seconds, with his Academy-mate Rajan Dubey, who was breathing down his neck, all the way in the five kms run, finished second (16:56). Vinayak Nivane from VPM Sports Club (16:57), was third. However, the girls under-17 winner, Selena Gomes, was way ahead of the field and won the event 18:04 secs..

Also among the participants were men and women, late in their 50s and 60s along with Chief guest and ex-corporator Abhishek Ghosalkar, himself a athlete, who took part in the one km run. Some of them were even running barefoot in the masters event.

BOYS U-12 (2 km) :1. Jay Monde (9.06 secs); 2. Swar Pujari (10.05 secs); 3. Shreyas Shetty (10.14 secs.). GIRLS U-12 (2 km):. 1. Daksha Belavadekar (11-.03 secs); 2. Rani Yadav (1146 secs.).; 3. Tania Atakare (12.50).
BOYS U-10 (1 km): 1. Atharv Palande (5.43 secs); 2. Raman Damani (6.07 secs); 3. Vedani Patel 6.29 secs. GIRL S U-10 (1 km): 1. Radhika Gayatri (6.40 secs); 2. Mansi Patel (Dahisar); 3. Zeel Thakar (6.47 secs.).
