Indian Oil strike late to emerge champions


 

Indian Oil struck at the death to overcome hosts Bharat Petroleum by a solitary goal 1-0 win in an engrossing final of the of the 36th PSPB Inter-Unit Hockey Tournament, organized and hosted by Bharat Petroleum Corporation Limited and played at the MHAL-Mahindra stadium, Churchgate on Thursday.News PSPB Inter--Unit, finals Indian Oil 2 2018

 

The Indian Oil outfit and Bharat Petroleum unit, both comprising of a galaxy of Indian stars, played a good attacking game and both side created many goal-scoring opportunities, but the goals proved hard to get with the lone goal coming at the end of the match.

Both the goalkeepers Pankaj Rajak of Indian Oil and Vikas Dahiya of Bharat Petroleum were outstanding in the respective goals and made some fine saves to eensure their citadels stayed intact.

 

Just as the match seemed to be heading for a goalless finish, Indian Oil earned a penalty corner a few seconds from the final hooter. Ace drag-flick specialist Gurjinder Singh successfully converted with a powerful low push beat goalkeeper to the right corner much to help Indian Oil emerge champions.

 

Mr. Suresh Nair, Executive Director (SCO), Bharat Petroleum, presided over the prize-distribution function and presented the glittering winner’s trophy to the Indian Oil team members.
